Painter (Full Time)

Position Overview

  • Reporting to the Lead Hand and Project Manager, our Painters have a hands-on multifaceted role which requires both working alone or as part of a team.
  • The Painter ensures the highest standard of quality in their work and performs efficiently and effectively.
  • Safety is a priority and our Painters are expected to practice safety precautions in executing their duties, including the proper use of safety equipment.

Duties and Skills

  • Preparation and painting of yachts from 25 to 125 feet- Preparation and application of varnish- Preparation and finishing of interior components in paint or wood finishes
  • Roll and tip application of paint on wooden vessels
  • Fairing of yachts and yacht components
  • Removal and installation of hardware and equipment- Work in coordination with other departments- Careful attention to detail
  • Crossover skills with other departments is an asset- Keep workspaces clean and organized- Work to achieve deadlines and scheduled hours
  • Ensure all workmanship and quality is consistant with Philbrook's Boatyard standards

Qualifications

  • Yacht, auto body, construction painting experience- Brush and spray application an asset- Experience with Alexseal and Awlgrip paint systems preferred
  • Pleasure Craft Operators Card, see Transport Canada's website
  • Must hold valid class 5 driver's license- Computer Skills-comfortable with use of computer equipment; experience with internet & email
  • Must have basic tools of the trade

Compensation

Competitive with industry standards and includes a comprehensive health and benefits package with RRSP after 1 year on staff.
